District Communication June 1st
Good Afternoon Cros-Lex Families:
In addition to updating Cros-Lex families on district updates, I want to begin with a message of encouragement and hope that each Cros-Lex family member is staying healthy, safe, and positive.
I also want to genuinely thank the community for your support to Cros-Lex Schools! Because of the Cros-Lex voters and the passage of the May 2019 Sinking Fund proposal, overdue projects such as the Middle School roof replacement project are now underway!
Tomorrow June 2nd from 10:30-1:30 pm, Cros-Lex Schools continues to offer to students and families our free food pick-up program, located at CLHS. In addition to our normal meal distribution, on June 2nd only, there will also be boxes of fresh produce available at the High School. June 9th will be the last food pick-up date for the month of June.
Over the past week, Cros-Lex Schools has formally organized a COVID-19 Return to School Planning Committee. The committee is comprised of teachers, parent(s), administrators, and board members. In preparation of the 2020-21 school year, the purpose of the committee is to develop an adaptable/flexible comprehensive set of contingency plans that are designed to keep everyone safe / healthy, engage students in rigorous, relevant learning, and support the social emotional needs of our students.
Although the first priority is for all students to return safely to our schools, The COVID-19 Return to School Planning Committee is addressing the following scenario questions:
- School resumes like normal with safety precautions in place.
- Classes feature a blend of online and face to face learning ie. Hybrid
- Continued remote learning.
As the Committee continues it’s planning for the fall, we are soliciting your input. Please take a few minutes to respond to a short 8 question survey and complete it by Sunday June 7th 8:00 pm. When the survey results are completed, the data will be analyzed by the committee to advance the contingency planning process for the upcoming school year, and the results will be available on the District website.
Commencement Ceremony Update. The district continues to make every effort possible to have a graduation ceremony for the class of 2020, and as soon as possible. Friday afternoon and again early this morning the Graduation Planning Committee met with Sanilac Emergency Management Director Mr. Todd Hillman, Sanilac County Health Department Director Mr. Bryant Wilke, and the Sheriff’s department to discuss our plans to honor the class of 2020 on the football field with strict enforcement of the latest CDC guidelines. With the Governor’s announcement today lifting the stay home order, we are more hopeful that our plans will be approved. We anticipate an update (which we hope to be final) on the commencement ceremony plans to be shared with seniors and their parents this week.
Sincerely,
Daniel Gilbertson
Superintendent
