Parent Feedback For Pre-Labor Day Start of School Year 2019-2020

Your input is important. Please take a few minutes to answer the questions below to assist the Croswell-Lexington Community School District with feedback to share with the Sanilac County Intermediate School District and all County Schools, the proposal to start school Three Days (M-Wed or Tues - Thurs) the week prior to Labor Day. Sanilac County School Districts have already begun approving the pre-labor day start for 2019, but each individual school district has the option to continue starting the school year after Labor Day.

If the Pre-Labor Day Calendar is approved by the School District and the Croswell Lexington Education Association (CLEA) for the 2019-2020 school year, the last day of the school would be earlier in June, projected to be June 4th. Otherwise, a post-labor day starts to the school year will likely be on or after June 9th.

The Michigan Department of Education maintains the required minimum number of days of instruction to be 180 and a minimum of 1098 hours of instruction. So regardless of the decision made for a pre or post-Labor Day start to the school year, the minimum number of hours and days of instruction will remain constant.

Thank you!

Daniel Gilbertson
Croswell-Lexington Community Schools Superintendent
