Our 4th grade students took part in the Little Inventors: Feel the Power project, thanks to a partnership with Macomb County ISD, Little Inventors, and our local MiSTEM network. Students were challenged to create inventions that generate, save, or use energy more efficiently.
Chase came up with a great idea—the Electric Stepper! It’s a device placed in busy areas that creates electricity when people walk on it. That energy can then power nearby street lights.
Chase’s idea was selected to be turned into a real model! He worked with Xander, a student from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, who built a 3D model and created a poster to show how it works. 💙

Congratulations to Chase for inventing a unique way to produce electricity, the Electric Stepper! 4th Grade Students around the world participated in the "MISD Energy Project: Feel the power!" where they were challenged to invent something that generates energy, saves energy, or uses energy better. There were 2,100 ideas submitted to the Little Inventors. 15 projects were chosen from Michigan - 3 of which are from the Cros-Lex School district, and Chase's idea was one of those 3! Chase will be working with a maker from the College of Creative Studies in Detroit to bring his idea to life! We can't wait to see what they come up with!
